Description

This original game art alexanderjade.deviantart.com/a… by AlexanderJade caught my attention and inspired me.  His version is deep and heart wrenching, but what I am hoping to show is that it's not the end, colour will always find a way into your life...eventually 😊

Hey there, I thought I might try and rustle up a critique for you.

Let me begin by saying that I really like this piece, the bright colors give a nice contrast to what should be a gloomy tomb aesthetic and you've done a fabulous job on the skeleton's clothing.
As for the things that I might change, the first difficulty I spotted was with the wall/background. While it looks really nice, all the lines and details detract from the picture a little ( at least in my opinion) and this is because you've got complex ( the skeleton) set atop complex ( the wall) which means that the two are fighting for our attention. This is easily fixed but erasing some of the lines around the skeleton so he's set against a less busy background. By no means would I change the entire wall because that one of the drawing's strong points.
The next thing I noticed was the candles, currently the flames are getting lost a little because you've got them set against the color yellow backdrop of the wall. Furthermore, you have the wicks shrouded in darkness, which ( I assume) is to make sure they read despite being set against the wall. In one case, it almost looks like the candle and flame is casting a shadow. Kind boss but not exactly realistic ;). Instead of the  dark outline, remember that the wall is sitting right behind the candles so you can put very bright ( almost white) highlights directly behind them and this will properly separate the the yellow flames from the wall.
Alright so I'll wrap up with some quick notes. The man's dangling arms feels a little long/large ( a good rule to follow is that the inside nob of the elbow will fall a little under the chest cavity but this is only a roundabout measurement). The next thing is that I feel his hair should be hanging a little more, make us feel how gravity is pulling it down despite how the skeleton is bracing the man's head. Alright last thing, I can't really tell if we're supposed to see the skeleton's ribcage or if he's wearing some kind of shirt.
I hope this helps and you did a great job with this piece.
Fare thee well.
